General A table 9 ft. long by 5 ft. wide and 2 ft. 6 ins. high is used for competitive table tennis; however, you and your family or friends can spend many happy hours playing with this set on the bare top of any rectangular table. 2. A game shall be won by the player who first wins 21 points, unless both players shall have scored 20 points, when the winner of the game shall be the player who first wins two points more than the opponent. 3. The winner of a toss shall have the choice of being server or receiver, or have the choice of ends. 4. After 5 points the receiver serves and so on after each 5 points until the end of the game, or 20 all when each player has alternate serves. 5. In a single game, players change ends at the score 10. 6. The serve, the server shall project the ball by hand (without any spin) vertically up into the air, the ball shall then be struck so that it first touches first the server's court and then passing over the net, touch the receiver's court. In serving, the impact of the racquet on ball must be behind the table edge of the server's court and within an imaginary continuation of the sides of the table. 7. If the ball served touch either the net or its supports, it is a let, and the server serves again. 8. A ball having been served or returned in play shall be struck by the player so that it passes directly over the net and touch directly the opponent's court. 9. The server loses a point if a good service is not made as in Rule 6.
